MIPCOM 2012: Canal+, City TV buy GIT’s Hannibal series

Ahead of MIPCOM that opens today in Cannes, France, Gaumont International Television has finalised sales with Canal+, City TV and Nordisk for drama series Hannibal.
Canal+ in France has acquired the pay-TV rights to show the 13-episode TV series; City TV in Canada now owns the free-TV rights while Nordisk in Scandinavia has agreed a DVD deal. Airing on NBC in the US, the series has already been pre-sold to ProSieben in Germany and Sony/AXN.
Starring Hugh Dancy, Laurence Fishburne and Mads Mikkelsen, Hannibal is currently in production. It explores the early relationships of Thomas Harris’s classic character and psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter and his patient, a young FBI criminal profiler.
